Who We Are

Ken Yasuda

A hairdresser for over 13 years, Ken has experience in help hosting hair shows and conventions. He most recently participated in a project called ATG ( Aloha Together Group ), supporting a Hair and Lifestyle Expo as Project Manager for Mizutani Scissors North America. His previous involvements include San Antonio Barber Expo in Texas, as well as class lecturer for HIHD ( Hawaii Institute of Hair Design ) in February of “2024.

Ken is no stranger to public speaking, but that’s not all he does. He enjoys bodyboarding, hitting pads kick boxing, running, snowboarding, and is looking to get into surfing this year. He is a Japanese American born in Kyoto, and raised in the Detroit Metro Area since age 4. Ken left his family home at age 19, and attended beauty school after finishing his university schooling in Michigan.

He did not have an easy upbringing as his teachers and peers K-12 were not use to having Asian American’s as a part of their student body. Ken has had to work through some cultural barriers in discovering himself. He is now at an age and experience level in life that he believes he is ready to share and expand upon what he has built so far within his friend and business communities around the world.

Aaron Kawata

I’m a Japanese American man born and raised in Hawaii, shaped by the cultural richness of my island home and the values instilled by my Japanese mother. Growing up, I navigated the unique blend of American and Japanese traditions, gaining insight into the beauty and complexity of both worlds. As a nurse, I’ve dedicated my life to understanding and caring for people, deepening my appreciation for the human experience. With a background in filmmaking and video editing, I channel my passion for storytelling into sharing deeply emotional narratives. Through Voice to Heart, I reflect on my journey, cultural identity, and the lessons that connect us all on a human level.
